System Requirements for the use of Word Viewer
- A personal computer with an 80386 or higher microprocessor
- 4 MB of memory (6 MB recommended)
- 3 MB of hard disk space (6MB free for installation only)
- MS-DOS(R) operating system version 3.0 or later
- Microsoft Windows (TM) operating system version 3.1 or later
- Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
To install Word Viewer, please follow these instructions:
1. Installation of Word Viewer is designed to take place from within
Microsoft Windows. If Windows is not running, please start it before
continuing.
2. Make sure to close all applications first, and make sure you are not
running any utilities or virus protection before proceeding.
3. Start File Manager. From Program Manager, this can be done by
double-clicking on the File Manager icon or by choosing Run from the
File menu and typing "winfile.exe" in the dialog box.
4. Create a new directory for Word Viewer: a) Choose File Create
Directory, b) Type in a name (Ex: "c:\wordview" ), c) Click OK.
Move the WV.EXE file from your download directory into the directory
you just created; Word Viewer will install into that directory. Run
the WV.EXE program by double-clicking on it in File Manager or by
choosing File Run and typing "wv.exe".
5. If you are installing off a floppy disk, you can either copy the
WV.EXE program onto your hard disk first, or you can run directly off
the floppy. Select the directory you wish to install into in File
Manager and choose File Run, "a:wv.exe".
6. Word Viewer will then automatically expand its files. These are the
correct file sizes and locations:
File Name File Size Location
===================================================
vshare.386 14,933 \windows\system
license.doc 14,336 Word Viewer directory
readme.doc 33,792 Word Viewer directory
sdv.dll 103,904 Word Viewer directory
ttembedv.dll 105,472 Word Viewer directory
ttembext.dll 5,280 Word Viewer directory
wordview.exe 1,815,040 Word Viewer directory
wrdview6.reg 504 Word Viewer directory
wwintlv.dll 369,152 Word Viewer directory
7. To run Word Viewer: double-click on the WORDVIEW.EXE file in File
Manager.

Installing OLE 2.02:
====================
Word Viewer requires OLE 2.01 or greater. If the WV.EXE installation
program does not find this on your system, it will halt installation.
You must then install OLE before running WV.EXE again. You can obtain
OLE 2.02 from any of the sources described below. If you ordered Word
Viewer directly from Microsoft Sales, Disk #2 contains all the required
files, and you follow the instructions on the disk label.
Note: If you install Word Viewer, but when you try to run it, you receive
the following error message: "There is not enough memory to start Word
Viewer", then you are probably running OLE 2.0. Follow these instructions
to install OLE 2.02, and Word Viewer should then load correctly.
